Folding Countertop Drain Mat, Diatomaceous Earth, 40 x 30 cm, Light Grey

A diatomaceous earth mat for the surround of a sink, sized at 40 cm by 30 cm so there is room to stand washed glasses, a dish rack or a row of bathroom bottles on it. The porous stone surface takes up the drips rather than letting them run across the bench.

Unlike the rigid slabs usually sold in this material, this one folds, so it can be put away in a cupboard or stood on its edge when the bench is needed for something else. At 9 mm thick it still feels solid under a stack of plates, and the edges are cut cleanly rather than left rough. The pale grey tone keeps a light coloured benchtop or vanity feeling open.

The underside has a double non slip backing so it stays put when items are pushed on and off it. In a bathroom it works under the toothbrush cup and soap dispenser, and in the kitchen it sits beside the sink for draining dishes and cutlery. Wipe it down or rinse it to clean, and let it dry out completely from time to time to keep it absorbing well.
