A freestanding electric fireplace with a white MDF mantel surround, 100 cm wide, that brings the shape of a traditional hearth into a room without any building work. The insert sits behind black tempered glass, and the 3D flame effect with glowing embers can be run on its own when you want the look but not the heat.

Heating runs at 1000 W or 2000 W with an adjustable thermostat, and fan assisted circulation moves warm air out into the room rather than letting it sit against the wall. The supplier lists a heating range of 18 to 30 square metres and a 30 second warm up.

The supplied remote covers heat setting, thermostat and the timer, which runs from half an hour to nine hours. The fireplace has overheat protection and an automatic shut off, and since there is no combustion there is nothing to vent. Assembly is required and a screw pack is included.
