A bar fridge is the difference between the drinks being cold and the drinks being where everyone is standing. Whether it lives under the bench, in the rumpus room or out in the shed, it keeps the beer, wine and mixers within reach and takes the pressure off the main fridge when people come over.

Choosing the Right Bar Fridge for Your Space

Capacity is the first call. Compact countertop models from around 40L suit an office, a bedroom or a small bar setup, mid sized fridges between 85L and 120L cover most home bars, and larger 160L to 200L units handle serious entertaining. Measure the recess it will sit in and add clearance at the back and sides for airflow, since a fridge squeezed into a tight cavity runs hot and works harder. Decide too whether you want a glass door that shows off what is inside or a solid door that hides it and holds temperature better. A reversible door is worth having if the hinge side is dictated by your layout.

Key Features to Look for in a Bar Fridge

  • Capacity: from 40L countertop models through to 198L double door units.
  • Freezer or chiller compartment: a separate 10L to 25L section for ice and frozen items.
  • Glass or solid door: glass for display and browsing, solid for better temperature stability.
  • Reversible door: hinge on either side so the fridge suits your layout.
  • Temperature control: adjustable settings, and twin zones where beer and wine need different temperatures.
  • Interior fit out: bottle racks, adjustable shelves and LED lighting.
  • Adjustable feet: levelling matters more than people expect, both for the door seal and for noise.

What You Will Find in This Collection

Compact countertop beverage coolers, single and double door bar fridges in black and white, models with a built in chiller or freezer compartment, and twin temperature zone units for households that keep both beer and wine. For the keen home brewer there are kegerators that take four 19L kegs or a single 50L, in double and triple tap configurations, along with commercial under counter keg fridges for a serious setup. Pull the space together with bar stools at the bench and gear from our kitchenware range.

Styles to Suit Your Space

Black fronted glass door models look at home in an entertainment area or under a bar, white units disappear into a laundry or study, and stainless steel suits an outdoor kitchen or a commercial style fit out. If the fridge is heading outside, plan it alongside your BBQ and seating from our outdoor lounges range so everything sits in one zone.

Ordering with Allure Home Collections

Every bar fridge ships from our Australian warehouse with fast local delivery and honest pricing, with no inflated recommended retail prices to discount against. Send us the dimensions of your recess if you are fitting one under a bench and we will confirm the clearances before you order. From our family to yours.

Bar Fridge Questions, Answered

What size bar fridge do I need?

For a bedroom, office or occasional use, 40L to 78L is plenty. A home bar or rumpus room is best served by 85L to 120L. If you entertain often or want room for cartons and bottles together, look at 160L and above. Each listing states the capacity in litres.

How much clearance does a bar fridge need?

Unless the model is specifically rated for built in installation, leave space at the back and sides and keep the top clear so heat can escape. Check the individual listing, since a freestanding fridge pushed into a sealed cavity will run constantly, use more power and shorten its life.

Can I put a bar fridge in the garage or shed?

Many people do, but check the climate class or rated ambient temperature range on the listing. A fridge running in a hot Queensland shed sits outside what some models are designed for, which means it struggles to hold temperature through summer. Keep it out of direct sun and off a damp floor.

Do I need to let it stand before switching it on?

Yes. After delivery, stand the fridge upright for the period stated in the manual, commonly around four hours, before plugging it in. This lets the refrigerant and compressor oil settle after transport. Switching on too early is one of the most common causes of early failure.

Glass door or solid door?

Glass looks the part in a bar or entertainment area and lets you see stock at a glance. Solid doors insulate better, hold a steadier temperature and use less power, which makes them the practical choice in a warm room or garage. Double glazed glass sits between the two.

What is a kegerator?

A kegerator is a fridge built to hold and pour kegged beer, with taps through the door or a font on top and a CO2 regulator to push the beer through. Our models take four 19L kegs or a single 50L keg, in double and triple tap versions.

Can a bar fridge freeze things?

Only if it has a dedicated freezer or chiller compartment, which several models here do, ranging from 10L to 25L. A standard bar fridge chills but will not reliably freeze. If you want ice on hand, choose a model that lists a freezer section.

What are twin temperature zones for?

Two independently controlled compartments let you hold beer colder while keeping wine at its own temperature in the same unit. It is useful if you would otherwise be compromising between the two.

Are bar fridges noisy?

Compressor models cycle on and off with a low hum, similar to a main fridge but quieter. Most of the noise complaints come down to the unit sitting unlevel or too close to a wall, so adjust the feet until it sits square and leave breathing room behind it.

How much power does a bar fridge use?

Far less than a main fridge, though a glass door unit in a warm room will draw more than a solid door one in an air conditioned space. Keeping it out of direct sun, leaving clearance for airflow and not overfilling it all help keep running costs down.

Can the door open the other way?

Several models here have a reversible door, meaning the hinges can be swapped to the opposite side during setup. Check the listing before ordering if the hinge side is dictated by a wall or bench.
